The ASEP Story
ASEP "Association of Sexual Energy Professionals" began as the dream of a sexworker turned erotic educator living in Texas. This amazing woman had discovered the amazing powerful contribution that her work brought to those who visited her. Formed under a different name, she struggled for years to bring forth her vision - a coalition of sexual professionals who would support each other, educate the public and bring the concepts of sexual healing into the mainstream. In 2005, she began to speak with EveLynn Maurine about what she visioned and that for several reasons, some of them legal, she needed to step away from this dream. EveLynn offered to take up the challenge.
With the brainstorming participation of Kenneth Ray Stubbs, EveLynn was inspired to create a modified version of her friend's dream organization. ASEP was visioned and birthed as a "nonprofit organization dedicated to providing sexual energy professionals with educational and networking opportunities that inspire psychological, somatic and energetic approaches to sexual wellness." Between the Spring of 2006 and the following November, EveLynn and Ray hurriedly pulled together a loose corporate structure, an initial conference, and an amazing program. The energy of the vision took hold and in November of 2006, the first ASEP Conference was held in Chandler, Arizona. In 2007, 2008 and 2009, the conferences were moved to Dobson Ranch Inn in Mesa. Dr. Stubbs choreographed three more amazing conferences, the programs of which may be found within this website. Since that time, By Laws, Vision and Mission statements, organizational structure, Executive Board members, websites, new ideas and scrapped ideas have evolved and adapted. Though it all, ASEP continues to grow and create magical events. As it sorts itself out, there are some ideals that the Founders of ASEP wish to keep in place as originally intended and others that new leadership will bring forth.
Late in 2009, following a severe economic crisis, it became obvious that ASEP as a non-profit organization recognized by IRS as such was not going to happen. The Board of Directors could no longer support the management of the organization as conference attendance fell and supporters could not justify renewing their memberships. Not wanting ASEP to simply cease to exisit and holding strong to her passionate belief that ASEP was to be a bridge between the Traditional Therapy modalities and Somatic Modalities, EveLynn created ASEP, LLC to take up where ASEP, Inc., left off. With the support of the dissolved Board, the new organization is taking what worked in the old organization and combining it with expanded ideas and ideals.
